Ideapad 300 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

I'm trying to repair this machine for my nephew.

When I turn it on, it never moves past the Lenovo splash screen.

I tried the NOVO button, but it just goes to the same Lenovo screen, and just cycles off again after about 5 seconds.

I don't know that much about Lenovo laptops.

I've tried pushing the F2, F12, FN+F2, FN+F12 to no avail.

I can't get to any BIOS options, or boot it through a boot CD.

Any help will be appreciated.    Thanks!

Re: Ideapad 300 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

Hi there, Saint -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 20 seconds.

Also, Try re-seating the HDD modules & check if issue still persist or not.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Re: Ideapad 300 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

From what I've been able to ascertain on this model, you have to nearly take the whole thing apart to get at the battery. That brings me to the next part of the problem. My nephew, in trying to take it apart, managed to strip one of the screws, and it's very difficult to get a computer screw out once its been stripped.

Were you able to get your computer fixed?  I'm having the exact same issue.  Any feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Re: Ideapad 300 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

No, I haven't had any luck yet. I finally got the battery pack unplugged, and left it that way for a full day. Plugged the pack back up and it's still doing the same thing, just showing the Lenovo splash screen and nothing else.

Going to try to drain the battery down to 0% and recharge to full, see if that does anything, but I'm not hopeful.

Re: Ideapad 300 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

Can you run the Lenovo diagnostic tool for hardware & check for any errors.

Update us how it goes.

I'll have to get a USB drive, since it won't boot to anything usable otherwise, keep you updated.

Ok, here's what is happening now.

I've tried this process several times. I'm trying to write the diagnostics onto a USB drive, everything works fine until the end when it says the process failed. I've downloaded the files multiple times, so I know they aren't corrupted. Help, please...  The text file of the process is listed below:

Re: Ideapad 300 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

I've downloaded every available image file you have. Every time, it gets halfway through the process, and I get the message, "The image file is wrong or corrupted. Please select a valid image to continue the process."

Anyone??
