Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

Hi there, Baraach                    -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

To answer your question, it would be the same on the product specification page :

12GB max / 2133MHz DDR4, dual-channel capable,

(4GB memory soldered to system board, one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket)

If you dont have two DIM sockets, you have single channel.

Lenovo built your machine with 1 socket.

Per PSREF, it supports dual channel via the processor, but Lenovo did not build 2  Dim sockets in your motherboard.

Also, As per psref 12GB max / 2133MHz DDR4, dual-channel capable depending upon the Models. As all models have 4GB onboard memory & if it has extra slot you can expand put 8GB more on it.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

I tried to check it on ideapad 310 but with Intel core i5 6200U it also has 1 slot and 1 onboard ram but the dual channel is activated soI think there is a bug in bios software and becuase I can't change it I am trying to send this problem to the software developer team but I can't and I don't why how to do.

Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

The bios has the lastest update 1LCN44WW.
The last update on the website is 1LCN43WW.

Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

I talked to technical support and they told me that moderators here send reports regarding this kind of concerns to engineering team.
If it is disabled it bios please activate it because the performance is really bad.

My understanding is that the RAM will work in dual-channel mode only if both memory modules are the same size.  If the memory soldered on the motherboard is 4 GB, you must install a 4 GB memory module in the slot in order to get dual-channel operation.  If you put a 2 GB, 8 GB, or 16 GB memory module in the slot, you will get single-channel operation.

I would guess that the 310-15ISK that you showed with dual-channel operation had 4 GB in the slot, for a total of 8 GB of RAM.  You seem to have 12 GB of RAM (4 GB soldered + 8 GB in the slot), so you will get single-channel operation.

If you really, really, really  want dual-channel operation, remove the 8 GB memory module, and replace it with a 4 GB memory module.

Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

I did I took the 4GB ram from 15ISK and put it in my laptop instead of 8GB but it didn't work in dual channel. So I guess it is not activated in bios and need an update or Lenovo doesn't give us the true specs for it and it is not supported by motherboard.

I hope it is just a software problem.

Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

So do you have a solution for this? It is very important a have a dual channel memory for gaming.

Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

Dual channel is logically faster as single. But in the real world you won't see much difference except in benchmarks. Also the single stick route gives you better upgrade path.
