Re: Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

Dual channel is logically faster as single. But in the real world you won't see much difference except in benchmarks. Also the single stick route gives you better upgrade path.

Bug or no, the marketing for the computer said DDR4 RAM, and the system is simply not delivering what the marketing people have postulated.

Nothing against tech support or the forumites, but this is pretty poor.  I own the same model and am experincing the same issues as OP is and I am not happy.   My folks own a ThinkPad that I took from a single 4GB DDR3 and paired it with another 4GB, matching the specs. DDR then kicked in and the performance difference is very, very noticeable. I know it would be in these butchered-up systems if there was a 2nd SODIMM slot available for upgrades.  This places this model almost on par with Macbooks and their soldered-in RAM; useless, destined for scrap in 2 years.

Re:Ideapad 310 15ABR RAM Speed

Hi there

i have a lenovo thinkpad 310 15abr and i have a small problem understanding how this laptop was build

the integrated ram is 4gb upgradable to 12 if you add in to the empty slot 8gb more

the problem is if you add 8gb more next to 4gb you will have single channel and it is practically  useless

if you add 4gb next to the 4gb integrated you will have 8 and will work on dual channel, the question is why lenovo had build this laptop with on board ddr3 4gb which work on 1866mhz and on the empty slot is ddr4 with max upgradeable is 2133mhz..... this is practicaly for no use as you will never be able to upgrade it and have a practicale result

thanks and i apreciate your response.
