Ideapad 310-15ABR Wont turn on

Hi,

I have had my Ideapad for about a month now and it doesnt seem to turn on.

The white charging LED is on when connected to A/C and I can hear the fan come on, the screen flickers when i press the power button, but then after a minute or so everything powers down before I even make it to the lenovo or windows login screens. No sign of bios.

I have read somewhere that i could try to take out the battery and start up the laptop without it, to try and clear static charge, but i'm not keen to take it all apart before I get some advice!

Hi James and welcome to the community,

A static discharge can attempt to resolve this problem, and below are some instructions on how to perform this:

1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

If you dont want to take out the battery or cant take out the battery then still follow the steps but hold the power button for 60 seconds instead of 30.

You can also try pressing the OKR (NOVO) button to see if the machine with start up then.

Hope this help you and let us know how you get on

Re: Ideapad 310-15ABR Wont turn on

I have the same problem. Machine doesn't turn on.

I can hear the fan running and very little flashes on screen.

I have tried to keep the made the "static discharge" thing, but it didn't work.

Does anybody have the same problem?

I am having the same problem. I do not want to open up the laptop though for static discharge since it is still under warranty.

Re: Ideapad 310-15ABR Wont turn on

I am also having this problem.  If I leave it with the barely noticable black screen flicker (every 6 to 8 sec) it will eventually boot. Sometimes within a few minutes, or as long as half an hour.

I tried to get into the BIOS to do a reset and finally got in. I pressed the reset button, and when the screen didn't come on right away, I pressed and held the power to shut down. I repeated this over 50 times until it finally did start and gave me the option to enter the BIOS. I found nothing out of place, but I reset default values and rebooted. Problem remained.

I tried reseating the RAM, disconnecting WiFi module, disconnecting HD and DVDROM, with no change.

I finally decided to open the unit up to disconnect the battery and CMOS battery.

Disconnected both, held main power switch for over 30 sec, held reset switch for over 30 sec, reconnected everything, problem remains.

The disgusting thing is that this started happening less then two months after warranty expired.

I have wasted so much time on this NEW laptop. Very disapointed. If there is no fix,

If there is a simple fix, like a BIOS update please post.

I'm not too interested in wasting more time on this but if there is a simple fix, like a BIOS update please post.

I will steer people to other brands, that is for sure.
