Ideapad 310-15IKB (without touch), Do i have to upgrate the Bios 10-(64)?

2018-05-18, 15:01 PM

I just received the message for BIOS Update -10(64), but when i downloaded it, its seems like this bios is for the 310/510-14/15IKB (with touch). However, my laptop is the ideapad 310-15IKB (without touch).

So my question is do i still need to upgrate my bios?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Kmer33.

Hi Kmer33,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Is there any particular issue you have with your machine?

If there is no need for a BIOS update then I suggest that you stay with the current working BIOS version.

Regards

The only problem with my laptop is that the battery is discharging very quickly, dspite that i  made all the updates (except for the BIOS-10 (64) which is a critical update according to Lenovo). But my battery is still discharging as fast.

Hi Kmer33,

There was no mention that BIOS Version 3JCN30WW includes battery issue so you may rather try other steps similar to this discussion. Else, try calling in technical support first for guided assistance and if there are other things to be checked then proper steps would be offered.

Regards

Is there a site where the 3JCN30WW BIOS update is described?  My machine has an intermitent video issue (screen flashes on and off for 5-10 seconds), but I'm not sure if it a problem with Edge, or hardware.  Also, your answer suggest that the BIOS update can be applied to models without touchscreens, which is contrast to the Lenovo message when I start to install the update, and then informed it should only be applied to touch screen models.  Is this true?  If it does no harm, I would apply it just to get rid of the frequent message that pops up saying I should apply a critical update. (Why do I even get the message to update when Lenovo appears to know that I have a non-touch model?)
