Ideapad 310 stuck on loading screen

Today there was an update for my AMD driver so I decided to install it. While it was doing that I was watching YouTube. Suddenly the screen went black and was unresponsive so I help the power button to turn off the laptop.

Now whenever I turn the laptop on it gets stuck on a black load screen after the Lenovo splash screen. It has a little rotating ring. If I move my finger around d the touchpad the cursor appears.

Pressing f2 or f8 or F12 does nothing when the laptop is starting up so I can't enter safe mode. I also have no CD drive.

Can someone please help.

Hi Liamers and welcome to the community,

A static discharge can attempt to resolve this problem, and below are some instructions on how to perform this:

1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

If this doesn't work then You should see a One Key Recovery (NOVO) button i your machine, normally located near the power button or charger socket.

With the machine turned off, use a paperclip to press this button and the unit will give you option to be able to factory reset.

Do be aware that this will delete all files and programs stored on your machine.

Hope this help you and let us know how you get on

Sorry, this is in the wrong category. The site is hard to navigate on mobile.

Mod's Comment: This post has now been moved to the correct forum.

I'll have to go the Novo button route. Any idea what caused this so I can prevent it from happening again?

Only thing to do is remember to Never force off a machine when it is installing an update.

Hope this help you and let us know how you get on
