My Ideapad 320 is still on windows 10 1803. Automatic updates keep installing for that version, but no sign of 1809 and now 1903. Will these machines ever get the latest updates? Or is it just wishfull thinking?

The Ideapad 320 is on the tested list for 1903.

Well, usually you should already be at 1809 at least. Check the Windows Update menu and see if there is an option to "download and install" Windows 1809 or 1903. IF not, check for updates manually. Version upgrades are mostly done using the manual update search, but automatically it doesn't upgrade the version.

None is available even after manually checking for updates. For 1809, I had contacted support back in March this year and was told, and I quote "the update is not yet available for your product."
It is somehow frustrating.
I aldo have another laptop, a Toshiba, 10 years old, it had Vista installed when I first bought it, upgraded to Win 7 then to Win 10 and all versions, including 1809 and 1903 (3 days ago) have been made available automatically through windows update.
The 320 15AST is 18 months old and oddly enough I am stuck on 1803, which keeps receiving the cumulative and other version related updates.

Well, that's weird. I think Lenovo knows better on which of their devices the OS runs and if there are driver incompatibilities. If it is listed as working in that list (which it is) it should come to you. Do you maybe have a LTSB version of Windows? Although I don't think so as these are usually offered for enterprises only.
You could download the Media Creation Tool and produce an USB stick to upgrade off of it, or do the upgrade right away
This link takes you to the official download page.

Tried to update as suggested, through the windows update assistant, it all seemed to be going well through the download phase, but the acutal install got stuck at 99% for over 7 hours. I guess I will have to stick to 1803 until Lenovo comes up with a solution.

Well, that's certainly not what I would've expected to happen. In that case, it may be that a driver is blocking the installation. Do you, by any chance, have an external antivirus software? These are also known to cause trouble. But, anyway, you'll get the cumulative security updates on that version anyway, so there's basically no hurry anyway.

Yes I have avast, but it is the same on the Toshiba and no trouble at all updating. I ended up contacting Miscrosoft support, they said I could try and install through media creation tool, but they would not reccomend it as it could cause issues with AMD dirvers. They say my system is being updated for the relevant version (1803) and they advise me to wait until such times updates are made available via windows update.
Thank you guys for your input anyway
