I would like to ask which SSD is compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad 320s 14IKB, as they have provided an M.2 slot and hardware maintenance manual suggests it to be SATA 3 of form factor (2280) on the motherboard?
I recently purchased Western digital green SSD (120gb) from Amazon plugged it in but was not detected by the OS, either in the BIOS.
Can anyone one please provide the solution soon as the preinstalled Seagate hard disk(1TB) is very slow and really annoying?
Please suggest which M.2 SSD will be compatible with the laptop?
And also which kind of slot they have provided for SSD because in the hardware maintenance manual they have suggested nvme ssd's?

You have a HDD slot with current spinner. This spinner could be removed and replaced with a 2.5 inch SATA ssd.
The WD green is M.2 2280 sata.
Your machine is M.2 2280 PCI/E.
Some: M.2 SSD / PCIe 3.0 x 4, 32Gb/s

This will work.
The PM961 is oem version of PM960. Stated otherwise Samsung xx960/961 is PCI/e. POLARIS.
The xxx970 is newer version of above. 970 EVO /pro is PCI/e. (NO 128GB).
Next up is this:
960>970>983. The newer the item, more $$. 4TB. PCI/e 3.1 x 8? 8 lanes.
For your shopping list:
Sata is old school at this time. BUT older machines have this in M.2 interface. (not yours, you found out). WD green.
PCI/e 3 x 4.. Generation 3 of PCI/e. 4 lanes of traffic.
PCI/e 3 x 2 is a older version of 3x4. 2 lanes.
NVME.. non volatile memory. .
NGFF=next generation form factor (2280).
which replaced Msata(2242) sata only in the WWAN slot.
The new 4TB item is called NGFF 2.
It is Physical Dimensions 30.5 x 110 x 4.8 mm .
Thus tons of confusion and xx961 does not show up in shopping list.
Someone could buy the 4TB here:
The specs are wrong.

If you want to replace your Current Seagate harddrive with a SSD than SATA SSD will be compatible and the laptop does come with a m.2 slot ...
You can check out this item but I haven't bought this item...you can check out this ...will definitely be compatible..
