Ideapad 330 15ICH (81FK00DBUS) -- Tried to add SSD M.2 2280

I tried adding an SSD drive --- WD Blue 3D NAND SATA M.2 2280. It wasn't detected even with the BIOS updated. Tried everything I can think of.

Did I do something wrong? Is it not compatible?

Re: Ideapad 330 15ICH (81FK00DBUS) -- Tried to add SSD M.2 2280

Hello and welcome,

Per the base spec, that m.2 slot is PCIe/NVMe, not SATA.

http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Lenovo%20Laptops/ideapad%20330%20(15_)%20Intel/ideapad_330_1...

M.2 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 4, 32Gb/s

Re: Ideapad 330 15ICH (81FK00DBUS) -- Tried to add SSD M.2 2280

Hello zoltanthegypsy,

I looked at PDF , it says

Some: HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm highSome: SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide
Some: M.2 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 4, 32Gb/s

It says that only some model supports, can anyone comment which SSD is supported SATA3 or nvme PCIE M.2 ? for Lenovo IdeaPad 330 81FK00DBUS i5-8300H

No, it says that some are shipped with one or the other.  Not what the model supports.

The spec above says that the 2.5 inch drive if present - either HDD or SSD - is SATA  and that the m.2 slot is PCIe/NVMe.
