I just purchased model 81FL0005US which comes with a standard 1 TB HDD. I would like to add a Samsung EVO 970 Plus 500GB SSD. Will this model work? I have read some reviews that it runs very hot? If this is the case, is the Samsung EVO 970 Pro 500GB SSD a better option? By the way, I don't believe that the mother board comes with a screw to hold down the EVO SSD?
Also, is there a location that outlines step by step instructions on how to install this EVO SSD and more importantly how to set it up as a boot drive while formating the standard 1TB HDD that came with the unit to use it as storage only?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Similar to this discussion, the specifications of the Samsung Evo 970 m.2 NVMe PCIe should work. Choosing the length should also be noted where the screw hole is available on your board (2280 or 2242). The screw needed as described in the manual (page 45) is M2 x L3.5 mm, Phillips-head Part Number 5S10K37602.
On the same hardware manual (page 45) are the location and step that you can reference. You may try cloners like Samsung magician to clone the current HDD to your M.2 SSD before you change the boot priority in the BIOS.
I hope this helps answer your query.

Thank you for your response.
I don't quite understand what you mean by: "Choosing the length should also be noted where the screw hole is available on your board (2280 or 2242)". Are you refering to the length of the screw, the length of the EVO 970, the model number of the board (2280 or 2242) or something else? Also, what is the maximim size Evo 970 that could be installed? I was looking at installing a 500GB Evo 970 m.2 NVMe.

I was just looking at the specifications for the 970 EVO and it does not come with a screw. I spoke with the local computer store and they don't sell those as they are apparently very hard to come by. I did notice that there is no availability on your website either. As I don't believe that the mother board has a screw there, wehere can I purchase one?
