Ideapad 330s 14IKb 500 gb SSD upgrade

Hi all,

I have recently purchased ideapad 330s 141KB - 81F40196IN. I just wanted to know whether it is possible to put 500gb SSD to the slot present in the laptop. I am particularly looking forward to buying the following SSD :

https://www.amazon.in/Crucial-500GB-NAND-NVMe-PCIe/dp/B07J2WBKXF/ref=sr_1_5?adgrpid=59268660139&gcli....

If yes, then what is the maximum capacity SSD that can be put in the system ?

Betreff: Ideapad 330s 14IKb 500 gb SSD upgrade

Questions about the "maximum capacity" are unnecessary as the capacity cannot be limited by the BIOS anyway, so it doesn't matter at all. It has a slot for NVMe SSDs, so yes, you can use the Crucial SSD if you want to.

Hi Santosh_16,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes, it is possible to add CT500P1SSD8 ( CRUCIAL P1 500GB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD) on the available slot of your board (PN 5B20R07556 MB 3N 81F4 WIN I38130U UMA 4G).

Checking with the hardware manual specification (page 26) its is up to 1 TB, M.2 PCIe OEM support.

Regards

Re: Ideapad 330s 14IKb 500 gb SSD upgrade

Thanks a lot for the info. And what about "WD Green 240GB M.2 2280 Internal SSD" ?? Will that support for my laptop? Because it has SATA interface but with m.2 slot and mine have NVMe m.2.

Re: Ideapad 330s 14IKb 500 gb SSD upgrade

No, it doesn't. SATA SSDs support B+M-Key. NVMe SSDs are explicitly M-Key while SATA SSDs are keyed as B+M-Key. They will fit but they will not work. It HAS to be an M.2 NVMe SSD with M-Key.
