Seems like some folks over on reddit have figured out how to disable the thermal throttling on Raven Ridge chips?
The method is a little over my head so hopefully someone will make an easy guide.

Completely agree. These problems, added to the awful fan noise, the display that is so dim and yellow it is pretty much unusable, the woefully inadequate battery life and the lack of any support from Lenovo make this by far the worst laptop I have ever had the misfortune of owning.

Yeah, I could just about cope with the screen and battery, since the main reason I bought this laptop was because it had the Ryzen 2500u with Vega graphics, 8GB of 2400mhz dual channel DDR4 and (in the model I received) a 256GB *SAMSUNG* Nvme SSD. In theory this machine could be amazing. The Acer and HP laptops with the 2500u, but fixed BIOSes look like they're doing amazingly well in gaming and productivity benchmarks.
Let's hope that Lenovo will deliver us a BIOS update that fixes the throttling as an early christmas present.

If anyone's interested, there is now a workaround to increase 15W STAPM limit on the 330 / 330S described at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-1xx-3xx-5xx-7xx/Ideapad-330-Ryzen-5-2500u-underperformin...
I've only been using it for a day so, but can confirm the difference in performance so far is remarkable.

Awesome! I'll probably give this a try myself over the next few days.
Anyone know the risks of this vise-a-vie voiding one's warranty? I imagine it's not too risky because it's just a software tweak that can be reverted if need be.

I have some good news, at least from my side. Today i received a notification telling me to restart my laptop in order to install lenovo firmware update version 126.96.36.199.
It installed but only when plugged to the wall and also created a problem with the windows pin login.
After that i tested the laptop with Cinebench R15.0 and i got on three consecutive runs more than 600 with all cores at a minimum 2.8ghz and temps always around 73 to 77ºC. Before i was able to get about 550 on the first run and then it would throttle down and the result dropped to between 400 and 500 with cpu hitting as low as 1.6ghz at temperatures around 60ºC.
So it seems on my laptop the throttling is way better than it was before. I would say now it runs as it should!
