Ideapad 510-15IKB - Noisy fan

Gets louder when the CPU % in task manager goes up, even on idle its still feels too noisy. i've tried updating from the lenovo companion app but did nothing

Seen many posts on this already wondering if there will be an update soon.

Re: Ideapad 510-15IKB - Noisy fan

A general problem. I guess it will not go away without bios update. We are expecting update from the company. But as if it were normal, no action is taken. You can not interfere with 3 party software.

Re: Ideapad 510-15IKB - Noisy fan

Hi there, Ben

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Most likely a bios fix is required and/or power manager to control it.

Please go through this link for better understanding.

Update us how it goes.

Yes, but did you try installing manually from the link given above? Did the issue persist even after updating from companion app?

Update us how it goes.

Re: Ideapad 510-15IKB - Noisy fan

By reducing the maximum frequency at which the CPU runs, cooling improves, but fan noise does not go away. My research concludes that this is a manufacturing defect.

I don't think there is any update coming. This is very likely a manufacturing defect.

Re: Ideapad 510-15IKB - Noisy fan

i don't think this issue is a manufacturing defect, it can be fixed with a simple bios update but apparently Lenovo's support does not give a **bleep**, probably they are saying: our laptops are noisy?? well that's your problem not us!!
heh
