Ideapad 510 keyboard backlight not turning on

My laptop is supposed to have the backlight feature, and it specifically says on the page specs for the model that it has a backlight on the keyboard.  It does not come on, <Fn+Space> does not turn it on, and I cannot figure out how to turn it on,

Windows 10

settings say the model is "ideapad 510-15ISK"

help?

Re: Ideapad 510 keyboard backlight not turning on

Hi there, Engineer                   -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Try opening a Run Box

Hit Windows key + R and type in msconfig then hit enter

Now go to services tab and place a check FIRST on hide all Microsoft services

Now uncheck anything that you don't know, YEAH anything you don't know just leave the antivirus if you have one,

Now go to start up TAB

Click on open Task manager

Same thing here disable anything you suspect running the setup.exe thing.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Does your space bar have the icon shown in the photograph included in this thread:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/Lenovo-Flex-2-14-Turn-On-Keyboard-Backl...

If your space bar does not have an icon printed on it, it means that your system does not have a keyboard backlight.

Lenovo sometimes manufacture the same model with minor variations, each variation being sold in a different country.  For example, the 500-15ISK that I have was sold with a matte screen in some countries, and with a glossy screen in others (I got glossy, but would have preferred matte).  The keyboard backlight is another feature that is included for some countries, but omitted for others.

Are you sure that the specifications which you read apply to the version that is sold in your country?  If you are sure, then return the laptop to the seller.  The seller either described the laptop incorrectly (consumer law in the UK means that you would be entitled to a full refund of the purchase price), or the motherboard or keyboard is faulty or there is a loose connection (in which case the seller should repair it).
