Ideapad 700 15ISK

I bought na brand new laptop about 2 months ago and the screws from the hinges broke off. Currently i only have one screw holding one hinge to the lcd assembly. I sent one email to lenovo and they told me to sent photos wich i did... but got no response from them. Is this normal fo this laptop ? it seems na design fault, the screws seems too small to withstand the force needed to open and close the lid.

Re: Ideapad 700 15ISK

Hi livebrain,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking with reports within our community from peer members, there are no remarkable reports of hinge failure for the Ideapad 700 15ISK to say that there is a design flaw. Hinge failure is not normal as for the same reason that investigation would be proper.

One of the reasons for email support requesting photos is to check the issue further so image copy of the fault, captured on all sides would help them aside from directly sending it to the depot.

As another option, you can directly call in technical support to have you assisted.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Re: Ideapad 700 15ISK

I called the support by phone and they will pick up the laptop within 2 working days.  The operator on the phone said that most likely they will change the broken parts under the warranty because the laptop is in good condition and the only faulty part are those screws.

There is however a disclaimer on the email i received saying that if the problem does not fall under the warranty i will pay some handling fees.

I'm kinda traumatized with warranties because of bad experiences in the past with some huge brands.  Lets hope Lenovo is different Smiley Happy

Re: Ideapad 700 15ISK

Hi livebrain,

Good that you were able to call technical support for In-Warranty repair since after all, the laptop is in good condition.

One of the reasons for investigation are cases when users failed to report user-induced damage like falls which is not covered by the limited warranty.

Since you did not have similar incidents (accidental damage), then we expect things get repaired under warranty with no cost at all.

Regards
