I have a USB-C Display which works perfectly fine with my Thinkpad T470,
but not with the Ideapad 720S. It will charge the Ideapad and mouse+keyboard (which are connected to the display) are working.
But the display itself is not working. This problem is identical with both USB-C plugs.
Following the specifications one of the both is supposed to support native DisplayPort or to be Thunderbolt which supports all Alternate Modes.
I found similar questions here but without a solution:
But bying multiple adapters and connecting more than one cable is not accaptable for me. My Thinkpad can do it so it looks like a misbehaviour to me.
Is there anything I can try e.g. BIOS update or drivers?

I found a Product Specifications Reference of the 720S and it states out the connector is a Thunderbolt 3 for the 720S-13IKB (Intel model):
That means, either the Thnderbolt implementation is not working properly on my model or the spec sheet is a lie.
Anyone has a working Thunderbolt 3 in his 720S ? Otherwise I should propably contact hardware support.

Well, I have an Ideapad 720s-13IKB with a 7th gen Intel Core i7 processor. The Thunderbolt 3 port in my device won't support charging the laptop, but anything else works flawlessly. I bought a random 30$ USB-C to HDMI adapter from a department store in my town and it works perfectly. So, I think you should be able to passthrough video to your monitor just fine.
