I want to install a SSD in my ideapad 100-15IBY without removing the current HDD. Since this laptop comes includes an ODD (in my case a dummy ODD), I think I should be able to replace this with another drive with out too much trouble.
I found this "Opticaddy" product that claims to be compatible with my laptop but also claims to be "universal" so, I don't find it particularty trustworthy. To use this part, it looks like I would need to get an ODD bracket (5B40J30801) and ODD door (5B30J30750) since these parts do not exists on the dummy ODD in my computer and are not included with the Opticaddy.
Is the linked product product a workable solution? If it is, do I need/where can I get the small parts? If it's not, are there any other options for adding a second drive to my laptop?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Installing a SATA SSD on caddy is a possible option but I was not able to search for confirmed upgrade with a compatible caddy in our community at the moment similar to this discussion
ODD bracket (5B40J30801) and ODD door (5B30J30750) may not be included with those marketted without an optical drive but you can check the parts lookup with your serial number here. Under commodity type , click Bezel/doors and MISC internal to check if you have it or not.
Lenovo encompass and other third party resellers may offer the parts but it would always be best to check on return options specially with the caddy as they may not always work as per claims.
