This IDEAPAD 120S I purchased from Best Buy recently has only 32GB HD. I purchased a 64GB expansion sd card however the update to Creators Update still says "need 8GB free". With a barebones fresh install there is very little free HD space for the update. Thanks,

It's possible to install and upgrade Windows on a machine with a 32 GB drive but it requires keeping extraneous stuff off the drive. Also, my experience updating my 110s leads me to believe that installing the update via CD or USB drive is easier than direct downloading. Good luck.
You might also want to consider adding a larger SSD if your machine supports that. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/Possible-hard-drive-upgrade-on-Ideapad-...
