Recenlty,I bought lenovo ideapad 330-15arr laptop which has ryzen 5 2500u processor in it. It has 8GBs of ram (4 GB onboard DDR4 + 4 GB DIMM) . So, 4GB is soldered and another 4GB is module ram which is in slot 1. My question is , If I want to upgrade my ram to 16GB in total then what should I do? Should I go for 2*8GB sticks or should I just buy one 8GB stick for slot 2? Will one 8GB stick will work with 4GB onboard + 4GB in slot 1 ? And one thing I should mention is that has Samsung 4GB 2666Mbps DDR4 ram on slot 1.

16GB max / 2400MHz DDR4, dual-channel capable, optional 4GB memory soldered to systemboard, one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket
If you have 4 GB soldered:
you can put 4GB stick in empty socket for 8GB total. <your config -or-
you can put 8GB stick in empty socket for 12GB max.
If you want to add 4GB MORE memory, remove the 4GB stick in socket and replace with 8GB stick.
16GB max is 0GB soldered and 16GB stick in socket. <this is a rare config.
Thus 12GB max with 4GB soldered.

Yeah, I got it. It has only one socket to upgrade. So disapointing. I can max only 12GB of RAM. Anyway thanks for help.

Could it be possible to install a 16GB DDR4 2133ghz SODIMM instead, and up the ram to 20GB? i have a ideapad 330-15IKB 81DE with the same 4gb soldered ram configuration and there no other ram instaled, so since i have to buy the upgrade of ram i researching if it's possible to intall such combination if the sistem will recognize it and use it, i'm also changing the HDD drive for an SSD one so as to make it faster and more power efficient.

just got the 330s 15arr with the ryzen5,128gb ssd,8gb of ram....can i upgrade the Ram?how much?the user accessible ram im assuming is 4gb on the top side, can this simply be changed out to a 8gb or higher capacity ram, without accessing the lower ram slot?...another question, ive yet to open the case,is the current 128gb ssd in the 2.5"slot?im looking to add the Samsung 970 evo 500gb NVme m2,im assuming this is a simple pop in procedure, not to mention ive already made a copy and backed up my system to a external hard drive so as to clone my data into a 2.5"ssd replacement and to clone the system and data onto the Samsung 970 evo Nvme m2....Any info greatly appreciated.....id like to do at least 12gb of Ram or more, need to know what i can and cant do....Im also curious before opening to determine my options.... thanks!! I tried to open up my V330 ARR 81B1 with AMD APU, almost got there but the bit around the VGA connector simply could not lift which made me crack the plastic around that area as a result. Not entirely sure why that last bit wouldn't budge though. Has anyone been able to do this? Is there a manual showing us how to do just that?
