I have a LeNovo IdeaPad 100-15IBD, Model Name 80QQ, purchased Feb 2015.
When I try to power it up, the power light comes on and the battery light comes on, but there's no fan and the screen is black.
If I press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (with the lights on) the lights go off again, which I presume is doing a hard power down.
I have tried removing the AC power and the battery (which involves taking the keyboard off first!), leaving it an hour, pressing and holding the power button several times for 20 seconds each, then plugging the battery and AC back in and powering up - but the symptoms are unchanged - power light, battery light, no fan, black screen.
I have tried the "One Key Recovery" procedure using the Novo key - this produces the same symptoms as a normal power up - power light and battery light come on, but no screen and no fan.
Any suggestions? I'm still in warranty so worst case I can send it off to get it fixed, but I'd rather find a way to fix it myself and not have to send it away.

Hi tonyheap ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Isolating the issue from a non display and a no post (power on self test) , would the hotkeys work (page 4) ?
F9 (backlighting page 29)and likewise connecting to an external monitor pressing F10 to toggle and check for display.
Placing a pen light onscreen checking any image may be visible for a display issue .
Else either failure maybe needing a systemboard check for graphic and other related no post issue to call in technical support for service.
Hope this helps answer your query.
Update us how it goes.

There's no sign of any of the hotkeys working - F9 or alt-F9 doesn't make anything happen to the screen. I don't have an external monitor to check that, but given that the fan is not going I suspect the problem is more fundamental than the screen just not working. There's no noise at all - can't even hear the hard drive spinning

Hi tonyheap ,
That would be a good observation that further add probable no post issue.
If you need to back up files or get some confidential data then you may take time to slave your harddrive to another computer after calling in technical support for service.
Hoping for a faster fix for your laptop.
