2017-01-01, 22:25 PM

I just bought a Lenovo ideapad 510-15ikb , 8Gb ram, 1 TB HDD

MTM: 80SV0035ED

what's the maximums ram I can upgrade to?

Can i add an ssd , next to the HDD without giving up the optical drive using a caddy ?

US specs for 80SV:

http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ideapad_510_15

You have 4GB soldered and 1 memory socket, with 4GB.

Max is 12GB.... you would have to replace the 4GB in socket with 8GB stick.

From what I see, removal of DVD is necessary to add 2nd HDD/SSD.

Hi!

First of all, note that I'm more of an "experienced noob" (not exactly noob, but not far from).
I would like to ask if someone could explain me why this http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ct16g4sfd8213 wouldn't work with this laptop - it's 2133 MHz, CL=15.0 (dunno what it means but CPU-Z tells me the installed memory is the same).

And also, if the above would work, would the performance be actually better? I mean, I guess it wouldn't be dual channel anymore? (yes, I'm not at all far from being a total noob...)

Thanks in advance!

Alex
