Lenovo Flex 10

Problem: Press power button, turns on and no display. Press power button to turn off then press to turn on, doesn't turn on but power button light is flashing. Plug in the charger and turn the Flex 10 off and on again, still not on. Tapping the keyboard, touchpad hoping something happens, no. Give it a couple more seconds then it turns on. Lenovo loading sign comes up then goes to blue screen saying "collecting data because there was an error then will restart for you", restarts. "There was an error with loading Windows. Given two options; option 1: Choose a recovery setting or option 2: restart". Both options have been clicked before and nothing has happened. This time tried choosing option 1 again and the screen starts flickering and Flex 10 turns off. Flex 10 has been opened from the back to check if memory, HDD and all else is correctly in place.

Any solutions?

Could the battery be the problem?

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Lenovo Flex 10

Hi there, Lenovoscott –

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Sounds like HDD is failing.

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.

- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again.

- If this will not work, do test the AC adapter if it's working properly. Remove the battery and power the laptop with just the AC adapter connected and see if it will boot up or not. do also try a different AC adapter that has the same voltage and see if it will work or not.

- Proceed with reseating the RAM's if trying a different AC adapter will not work, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Flex 10

UPDATE:

All three steps have been done. The netbook has now turned on without the charger plugged in but had no display, plug the charger in and it makes a 1 second beep sound, no display still, unplug the charger and a 1 second beep sound as well.

With the battery removed and only charger plugged in, it turns on but no display.

UPDATE 2: The netbook just turned on, displayed Lenovo sign and when I moved the screen the netbook shut down.

UPDATE 3: This is weird... Netbook has turned on with only the charger for power and the display has loaded all the way to the windows log in screen. The screen was at an angle. I now just lifted the lid up completely and the netbook has shut down.

UPDATE 4: Connected the netbook to an external monitor and keyboard, keeping the netbook lid at an angle without touching it and have been able to do updates and check if the drive is failing and it's not. When disconnecting the monitor and keyboard and using the netbook how it would normally be used, it would freeze and the display would have these stuttering type black and white lines appear.

Re: Lenovo Flex 10

There could a chances of hardware failure. However I still recommend, if it is under warranty I would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres and applying the normal phone techniques to get it replaced promptly.

Re: Lenovo Flex 10

Thanks for the reply. It's no longer under warranty... Would the best solution be to just buy a new laptop?
