Lenovo Flex 2-14 - change keyboard non backlit with backlit one.

Hello Lenovo and community users,

I recently brought a Lenovo Flex 2-14 the one with i3/4gb ram, red colour, model: 20404.

I use this notebook to DJ at events in dark environment and I've seen that there are models with backlit keyboards.

My next question is can I replace the non backlit keyboard with a backlit keyboard?

If it is possible can you please point me from where can I buy a backlit keyboard for this model.

Thank you in advance.

You need to buy backlit keyboard on Ebay or Aliexpress. Also you need small 4-pin 1 mm pitch connector. There is possible to get 5v power from round capacitor near USB.

Yes, it works. But you can't turn it off from keyboard.

But I see the Flex 2 14 has the connector already on the main board. I mean, the flex 2 that comes WITHOUT lit keyboard, HAS the backlit keyboard connector.

Have you done this specifically with Flex 2? Or are you talking about experience with a different notebook?

If your Flex 2-14 has the connector on motherboard, you can just connect the backlit keyboard and enjoy the light Smiley Happy
My motherboard hasn't connector. I tried to solder the connector on its place, but there is no power. Don't know why. So I decided to take power from round capacitor near USB connector. Maybe it's not the best solution, but backlit works.

Okay. Well according to YouTube videos online, the connector appears to be there (watched several teardowns). I haven't actually got mine yet to investigate my unit (it's in the mail)

So how then do YOU turn off the backloght? Or it's always on?

Yes, it's always on, if laptop is on.

Thanks Roms69

The connector is the little white one next to the bigger MB connector, yes? I've watched several videos and that appears to be it.
