Lenovo Flex 2-15 No Battery Detected

I have a Lenovo Flex 2-15. It operates with or without the AC adaptor being plugged in, so I am quite sure it does have a battery.

I could not determine how to display a battery level indicator or icon which is a common feature on most laptops. I just couldn't find such a thing on this machine.

I loaded an app called "Lenovo Settings" (version 3.111.0.0). When I click on the Power Status tab, I see a battery icon with three dashes, a status messages "No battery Installed", and "AC adaptor is attached".  [ When I unplug the adaptor, it still says it is attached! Smiley Happy ]

So, several questions:

   - Does this "Lenovo Settings" app really do anything? Is it compatible with the Flex 2-15?

   - How do I see the battery status?

   - Did I accidentally uninstall a utility?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

Re: Lenovo Flex 2-15 No Battery Detected

Hi there, Jmulla –

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Can you try the below steps:

Unplug AC adapter and Shutdown the system. Remove battery, Connect AC Adapter and Start windows. Uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery from device manager under the battery tab. Shutdown, Remove AC Adapter, Install battery, Reattach AC Adapter. Now, Power up and check.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Flex 2-15 No Battery Detected

Hi Shashi:

The battery on this Lenovo is not easily removable. As far as I can tell, I have to disassemble the case to get the battery out. Is that really what you are recommending? Do you have instructions on disassembling the case and removing the battery? Can I do this procedure without removing the battery? Sorry for all the questions.

Re: Lenovo Flex 2-15 No Battery Detected

You could also try this

  1. Shut down your laptop
  2. Connect charger
  3. Press the power button for 15 secs.
  4. Then start your laptop normally.

Please go through this HMM for hardware assistance. Also, if you have to go any deeper then you would be voiding the warranty. I would recommend you to contact Lenovo service center and report your findings.

You need to make sure that the power management software of your computer is updated.

Initial solution from Sashi_Lenovo worked perfectly. However, accessing the internal battery is a pain in the butt
