Hi, my laptop won't turn on when I press the power button for some reason. I've tried taking out the internal battery and holding the power button but it still won't turn on.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you share the machine number / MTM (ex. 81EM0014US) from the sticker or to check it from here?
If you can confirm that the charger is ok, then we also expect the battery LED indicator to be lit. With a charged battery you can try using the Novo button to power on to isolate power button issue.
Update us soon as convenient.

Hi, thanks for the response.
The machine number is 81SS0005US.
Nothing happens when I press the Novo button. The back around the fans feels warm even though the laptop hasn't been powered on in a few days. Not sure if that's indictative of anything though.

Model 81SS is for FLEX-14API.
You can check the ac charger as shown here (page 22).
Plugging the ac charger should also show the led indicator on the left side:
Solid white: Connected to ac power (battery power 91%–100% , )
Solid amber: Connected to ac power (battery power 1%–90%)
Off: Not connected to ac power
Opening the laptop, you can have the laptop check if fan would spin. If the battery is warm, then it may be sending off power all this while. You can try to re apply thermal paste and check the internals for darkened areas or bloated caps. When you power it back, use the novo button hole (right side item 2 page 4) to turn on.
Update us how it all goes so you can decide if it needs to have sent to the service center.
