Greetings All, My Lenovo Ideapad 100 15IBY running on windows 8 OS won't wake up from sleep mode as it automatically boots into sleep mode when powered on and the screen remains blank. I have tried reseating the ram, power on with ac adapter and also holding on the power button for a while but still no sign of waking up. The screen is perfectly Ok. The only problem is that the heat sinks gets hot than normal. Please kindly provide any fix or solution to this. Thanks
Welcome to the Forum.
In this instance I would recommend you to perform a factory reset with your unit pressing the Novo Button. Be aware that it will delete any data on your machine.
This should allow you to boot up your unit normally and checking it in detail to discard different issues.
Please let us know how it goes.

I too have a similar issue with my Ideapad 320S, I got it yesterday and so far have only encoutered the issue that is I close the lid of my laptop to put the laptop to sleep, it will not wake up on opening and my only way to reboot the laptop is it hold down my power button until it totally shuts down and reboot it from there.
So far this has not been a major issue as it is an SSD and does not take long, however, in the future this may cause me problems with possiblying loss of work, etc.
If anybody knows a fix then it would be greatly appreciated.

I close the lid of my laptop to put the laptop to sleep, it will not wake up on opening and my only way to reboot the laptop is it hold down my power button until it totally shuts down and reboot it from there.
Just to be clear what is happening:
(1) You are using the laptop normally and then close the lid.
(2) The system enters sleep mode (screen blanks, and battery LED blinks).
(3) You open the lid.
Are you expecting the system to wake? As far as I know, only MACs do that; Windows PCs have never done that. You need to press and release the power button to wake the system from sleep.
If you ARE pressing and releasing the power button but the system does not wake, it suggests that there is a problem with one of the devices not supporting sleep mode correctly. This may mean that a device driver is missing, or that the driver is back-level, or the wrong one. So try running Lenovo Update to see if there are any more-recent drivers to install. You might also want to run Windows Update in case there are Windows changes that may affect this.
If the problem persists, look in Windows "Device Manager" to see if any devices are flagged as not working. That may be the problem device, so try to find a driver for it.
If none of this cures the problem, the work-around is to change the lid action in the Windows power plan (in "Advanced Settings"). You can select from:
(1) Do nothing
I would suggest using "Hibernate", as it preserves the state of your system, and you don't need to save your work and exit the applications.
If "Hibernate"is not offered as an option, it is probably because "Fast Start" is enabled. "Fast Start" changes "Shutdown" into "Hibernate". I would always recommend disabling "Fast Start" (it is well hidden, so you will need to search to find it), and using "Hibernate" explicitly when you want to.

Thank you for your help,
You are correct, I am using my laptop normally, closing the lid and leaving the laptop and then later coming back and attempting to carry on using the laptop from where I left it. I do press the power button and the system still does not wake.
I have checked the drivers and software and it is all up to date and no devinces are flagged in devince managment. I followed your advice and next went to change the settings for when I close my lid. I found them and changed them to hibernate, however, when I next went to close my lid the same issue occured except this time I shut down my laptop. I did make sure that I didn't set the closing of the lid to "shut down" but it was definetly on hibernate as I ensured and tried again.
If you have any further solutions I would be very greatful to hear them.
Thank you for your assistance,
