I bought an Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15ISK Model:80SR and like other customers i have the same problem on this model with the gpu nvidia 940mx being at 100% usage but core clock speed and memory speed being at 405mhz (when base is 1122 and boos is 1242mhz).
First i want to mention that i updated my BIOS version to the 2017 feb (latest for this model) and still have the same problem. The gpu core clock never goes above 886mhz and it usually drops at 405mhz and the memory as well.
Like the others said on the forum it seems the problem is from lenovo bios settings where is set that gpu cant go above 62 degrees and when it does the gpu drops to 405 mhz making the laptop useless in games.
Also it seems the only solution is an bios update from lenovo that never came.
Also I saw that the support never responded to this problem. I hope someone from lenovo will give me a solution to my problem.
I still have my warranty and i'm thiking about money refund or laptop replace model if the problem is not fix because the laptop is not working in the parameters it should work and i wanted the laptop for light gaming

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Unfortunately it seems this seems to be fairly frequent issue with this unit, or at least according to these forums.
And yeah, unfortunately without much resolution at this point, I would personally recommend investing in a cooling pad of sorts, a friend of mine has managed to keep it somewhat stable with that, but eventually gave in and bought a desktop.
Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo!

Using a cooling pad or puting my laptop in a fridge is not a solution...
Lenovo Romania also doesn't have a number to call only service and a secretary from lenovo.
I want my money back or a laptop replacement not this kind of solution.
The secretary from Lenovo Romania also sugested using Q&A from romanian suport so in conclusion dear customers from Romania, u can't call Lenovo in Romania because they don't even have a number to call and solve this kind of problems.
I'll try to return the laptop to the shop i purchased this laptop or if it doesn't work i'll the customer protection from Romania to force Lenovo to do what they are suposed to.
Also ill make sure all my friends will not buy a laptop from u again
