What's up man?
Saw your post, and having the same problem, I felt inclined to sign up and help.
I'm happy to say that I have a solution for you if you still haven't solved the problem!

You need to add the missing drivers to your installation medium (DVD or memory stick). This process is called "slipstreaming". Try googling for:
windows 7 slipstream
and read the various web pages that deal with this. The drivers that are required for installation are probably for the USB sockets, but many other drivers will be missing too (e.g. ethernet, wi-fi, bluetooth, ...). You can download these drivers from the relevant Lenovo support page.
Note: slipstreaming is a complex process, and is not for the faint hearted. I wanted to do this myself, but decided that it was too complicated.

Sure! Sorry for the late reply, I didn't check here for a long time.
There are two things that worked for me:
The easiest is to install the latest updated version of windows 7, than you won't have this issue.
The 2nd solution is to load the usb drivers. Just copy them to your hard drive, maybe by using a linux live cd and then browse and load them. Hope that helps!

I'm not sure if we have the same bios, usually there's an option to disable USB 3.0, which solves this problem on a different lenovo laptop I own. No such option on my 510s though.
