Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK touchpad not working.

Hello,

I have purchases this laptop 4 months ago and everything has been working fine. However today when I turned the laptop on, the touchpad was unresponsive. I have not made any system updates, or whatever prior to this malfunctioning. It seems to just have stopped working out of nowhere.

I have tried uninstalling the synaptics driver and reinstalling, I have tried older drivers and the newest, also the standard microsoft touchpad driver. Nothing seems to fix it, it is completely unresponsive.

Might it be a hardware failure?

I appreciate all suggestions.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK touchpad not working.

Hi Ahmada0 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As you already performed needed troubleshooting steps for such issue, you can try to back up your files.

Lenovo machine would have an One Key Recovery environment that works different from Windows to test touchpad functionality .

Turn off the machine and launch the OKR mode by pressing on the Novo button.

Select System Recovery and one key recovery from initial backup using the touchpad.

Check for any cursor and or functionality of the touchpad .

Isolate if a USB mouse would work.

There is no need to proceed with the factory restore although it may clearly point put possible hardware issue against software problems . You can call in technical support for needed service.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK touchpad not working.

Any chance you have a mouse plugged in and your touchpad has an option called "disable touchpad when UBS pointing device is plugged in?" You could also try deleting the touchpad device driver and let it be rediscovered/rebuilt on next boot.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK touchpad not working.

OR, any chance you have "hot keys enabled" in the BIOS and pressed the hot key to disable your touchpad by mistake (F6 on mine)?

OR, you pressed FN + hot key (F6 on mine) if you have "hot keys disabled" in your BIOS?

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK touchpad not working.

Thank you for your suggestion newlaptop.

I would have never thought I would make such a stupid oversight. The F6 button indeed disabled my touchpad. I have tried your suggestion before, however I pressed the FN+F6 key, which for my case doesn't do anything, however pressing the F6 key alone does enable/disable the touchpad.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK touchpad not working.

Hello spidy101,

It seemed I made a very stupid oversight,  I had disabled my touchpad by accidentely pressing the F6 key without noticing, I thought my touchpas was broken but simply repressing the F6 button has reactived the touchpad.

However I was not aware of the NOVO button, and thanks to you now I know. So thank you for your suggestion!

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK touchpad not working.

If you are having laptop mouse pad not working or Lenovo touchpad not working Windows 10 issues then you can apply any of these solutions to get rid of the problems:

First Solution: Enable Lenovo TouchPad

  • Go to the Start menu > Settings > Devices.
  • Select Mouse & touchpad > Additional mouse to open Mouse Properties.
  • Next, go to Device Settings tab > select Enable option then click on the OK.

Once you have enabled the touchpad, the touchpad issue should be gone.

Second Solution: Update Lenovo Touchpad Driver

  • Go to the official website of Lenovo and download Synaptics Touchpad Driver.
  • Open Device Manager and expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right click on the Lenovo Pointing Device and then select Update driver software.
  • Click on the Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  • Now, click on Have Disk > select the downloaded touchpad driver and install it.

Once the driver is updated, you will get the bug-free Lenovo laptop touchpad.
