I have a 100s -11IBY running Win 10 I have been using a Samsung 64gb Micro sd card formatted NTFS.and has been working ok and I have stored data. Recently the built in card reader no longer recognises the card or makes any sound when I insert or remove the card. The card reads as a Fat 32 on my desktop and now has no data stored. I have tried other cards which I know are working with in the built in cars reader with the same result.
In divice manager on the 100s the SD Host controller lists 3 identical host controllers and state divice is working properly. Same with the SD storage class contoller. I have tried updating the drivers in both and it says the best driver for your divice is already installed . The 100S is about 4 months old Please help

Ive spent days trying different sollutions from googling this problem with no luck. The card works ok when I use an external card reader plugged into the USB.
Please help if you can

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Try to download the Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.
Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.
(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your reply. I had already downloaded the chipset and installed but still the internal card reader is not working. The update sytem on my Ideapad 100S-11IBY Type 80RS tell me everything is up to date as does the scan at your support.
I tried the static discharge but did not remove the internal battery as its still under warranty. Holding down the power button for 30 sec just powered it up.
It looks like other have had this problem but no solutions.
Maybe its the actual card reader itself.
Can you suggest anything else to try or how to proceed please

My retailer advised me to send back and get repaired under warranty. Came back with internal card reader working saying they replaced the main board. Just as well I did a backup image before as it came back in initial state.
Had a few problems restoring the backup image with windows 10. You need to boot up using the system repair disk offered when you make the backup using an external writer/player and just before you click to restore yank out the USB lead otherwise you get an error code. I got all this info from googling.
