Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK Laptop single click with external mouse not always working

Single clicking with my external mouse works fine -- except for in one particular program. But it's not an issue with the program, because if I use the touchpad buttons, single click works fine. And it's not the mouse, because I've tried three different mice, all with the same result. Even when a Lenovo tech rep took over my computer and single clicked within that program, it didn't work until he clicked several times. I've talked to several other people (including tech support for the program), and no one else is having this issue. Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks in advance....

Chaos Software's Intellect is the program. But here's what I have found since I posted my question:

After a lot of experimenting, I have found that if I use small fonts within Intellect, native resolution, and 100% in Customize Your Display, single clicking works. I'm assuming that when everything is increased in size (e.g., choosing large fonts or a larger percent), the result is a larger area to click, it's easy to "miss" the exact "clickable" area. Is that possible? Unfortunately, it's not practical for me to use those settings, as the text size is so small that no one could possibly work comfortably without using a magnifying glass.

So I looked for another solution: In order to use Intellect using the native resolution, I have to choose 125%...BUT if I "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" (right click Intellect icon and select Properties|Compatibility), text is more readable AND single clicking is working! Yes, 125% creates some minor "squishing" issues, but at least everything is now clearer and a nice size, "bold" no longer results in very fuzzy text, and single clicking works!

Bottom line: The resolution on my new laptop is too high for Chaos Software's Intellect (and also for my genealogy program). If a support person would like to download an evaluation version and test it on a 1920x1080 15.6" display, that would be great!

You could also use the System Restore feature to get your computer back the time when it worked.

Let us know if it helps.

I guess you didn't read my explanation. "Bottom line: The resolution on my new laptop is too high for Chaos Software's Intellect (and also for my genealogy program). If a support person would like to download an evaluation version and test it on a 1920x1080 15.6" display, that would be great!"

Looks like I'll be spending a few years squinting to read text in a couple of programs due to what is too high a resolution for a 15.6" display. I am not a happy camper.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK Laptop single click with external mouse not always working

Judy,

Your workaround solution may be the best at this time.  So far, I think these have been viewed as an opportunity for the software vendor to address.

What happens if you reduce the screen resolution via Windows settings temporarily when you run this application?

Best regards,

Mark

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK Laptop single click with external mouse not always working

Somehow it's working now...after I made a number of little changes. To be honest, at this point I'm not every sure which ones worked! But it did appear that the more I enlarged text, the less the mouse worked with single clicks.

Thanks for your reply.
