Hello, I just bought this laptop last week. My past laptop's Function keys work just by pressing them, but on this one when I press it, it does a certain function. For example if I press F1, it mutes the sound instead. I tried to press F1 with FN key to actually use F1. But it didn't work.

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Have a look on the following post from How to Geek, they got a number of methods for changing the function key functions, see if any work for you.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo!

You might want to disable the "hot key" function in the BIOS. That way, F1-F12 will just be F1-F12 and FN + F1-F12 will now be the special fuction combinations.

IN YOUR LAPTOP LOOK FOR
AND OPEN IT
ON THE LEFT SIDE (SEE PICTURE)
SELECT THE "INPUT"
THEN UNDER FUNCTION KEYS
SELECT F1-F2 INSTEAD OF HOT-KEYS
