Lenovo Ideapad 310 - 15ikb 80TV - no touchpad

I have a problem in the touchpad, it doesn't work at all, (doesn't appear in device manager and the pointer disappears when i unplug the USB mouse) I tried all methods, the fn +f6, updated Bios, updated Drivers, re-installed Windows, even I made a test with a Linux live CD and everything worked except the touchpad.

In BIOS there isn't any options regarding the touchpad as well

I was wondering if there is something needed to be enabled in firmware?

I wonder. what can I do at this point, I am using an external USB mouse, but I need the touchpad to be working as well.

* the laptop is new, there is no physical damage at all

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 310 - 15ikb 80TV - no touchpad

Hello Afahmy

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 310 - 15ikb 80TV - no touchpad

Thanks for your reply, however it didn't help as

  1. The battery is internal (I even tried with FN+S+V) to click on power, but no hope
  2. there is no physical hardware faults. nor a static on motherboard
  3. I was thinking if there is a solution like a special firmware update to enable it again in bios
  4. I tried different operating systems everything works except touch-pad, not appearing at all
  5. I was thinking of trying the software method before I take it to shop as I don't wish to disassemble it as its a new laptop

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 310 - 15ikb 80TV - no touchpad

Sounds like in this case that there will be some sort of connection issue perhaps with the touchpad, if these steps do not work I would recommend, that you call your local Lenovo support line for a possible service. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Or if you are within 28 days of purchase, you should be able to return to your retailer for a possible replacement/refund, however this changes from country to country so make sure this is a feature of yours.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 310 - 15ikb 80TV - no touchpad

Hello,

Thanks for your reply, I checked with warranty and they told me that my laptop is okay, it oculd be a bios issue, I went to the shop I purchased my laptop from and I discovered that the recent bios update was the problem, I installed bios on other typical device in the show room and the touchpad disappeared, I think it was intended to the touch screen model.

I was wondering if lenovo can push another bios to include my model (non touch screen, only touch pad?)

If I need to contact Lenovo directly as it is not an internal hardware issue, what shall I do?

Thanks

A
