I have just gotten the Lenovo Ideapad 500-15ISK and have been experiencing Hardware Scan Fail within the "Mathematical Operations Test" of my Intel HD Graphics 520. I have checked support and other forums which have addressed this issue, but all these solutions have not worked for me.
I read that this is a false positive and that updating the VGA would help, which I have done, but does not fix the solution.
Could anyone please help me find a solution to my problem.

You say that tech support found a different driver that fix the problem. Could you maybe share the link or how you got there with me?
Also, I have not experience any random pop up window. But if anything happens like that, I will let you know.

This one was installed by a Lenovo tech support specialist the first time, but I did a computer restore and this driver was removed. This driver below seemed to work okay.
During a second call with a different support tech, he installed this driver which so far has been working also and is the current driver on my laptop. I think it is an older version of the one above.
With both drivers the techs ran the Lenovo Solutions Center application to confirm that the "mathmatical error" was fixed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I tried installing the driver of the first link you gave me, but I got an error saying that the operating system is not supported. Not really sure what to do as I made sure to get the 64-Bit of the program.
Any chance you experienced this error when you were installing or know how to bypass this error?

I believe the support techs uninstalled the original driver in order to be able to install the new driver.
Just this morning my laptop had some sort of major operating system update. It took about 45 minutes to complete. After that was done, I am assuming Microsoft automatically re-installled the original driver and the "mathmatical error" returned when I ran the Lenovo Solution Center scan. I tried to update the driver myself and got the same error message that the driver was not supported. I decided to unistall the original driver like the support tech did and re-installed the second driver, which is the last one on my computer that fixed the problem. Now there are no errors reported after the scan. When installing this driver from Intel, they do let you know that Microsoft may have modified the original drivers to work with this operating system and that this generic driver from Intel may not work properly in all situations.
As you may have discovered since I used the call in tech support, I am not that knowledgeable when it comes to computers. I am 67 years old and did not grow up in this computer generation

I had the same problem with my ideapad 500-15isk. Immediately after installing and doing the check it said mathematical operations test failed on the intel graphic 520. Running facebook would give problems. Either the screen would flicker black for a sec or it would freeze. I have had contact with Lenovo support and they unistalled the 10.18.15.4279 driver and installed the 18.104.22.16880 driver. Ever since it is working fine. Great support from Lenovo. Have to say this is my third new laptop in one week. The other two were from a different brand. Two times for more than an hour on the waiting line and not even no one to talk to.
