Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

I perviously had a Lenovo and purchased a new one because the mouse "stuck" and would not click on taskbars or the items at the bottom of the screen.  Changing mice made this continue to happen.  However, CTL+ALT+DEL would loosen up the clicking function and allow me to use the mouse properly.

The new, above-captioned computer is doing the same thing.   Can I change settings to stop this?

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

Hi jakooker ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would using an external usb mouse allow you to click on those areas when it happens?

Would it also the same in the OKR screen (turning off and turning on using the Novo button item page 82 ).

As pressing ctrl alt del cancels the halt process, would you describe it as something mechanical in nature? If so then it would be best to call in technical support for service.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

Hi Spidey.

Thank you for taking the time to write.  My laptop is a 510-151SK so the underneath of the device looks slightly different from that shown in the guide for the 500 that you reference.  Sadly, I cannot locate this Novo button.

That said, nothing would work from the USB-connected mouse in the areas of reference.  So I could not select or click in them.

I would love to chat with the Lenovo team but I cannot get the chat to work from the laptop.  Calling is not an option as I am in Sierra Leone.  Any further suggestions would be great!

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

Hi jakooker ,

Try Novo button on item 8 page 9 of the users guide left side

Would it appear that the cursor using both touchpad and external mouse won't reach the bottom part of the desktop screen?

See if safe mode would allow you to work in those areas to isolate probable display driver issue if there is a need to update or even rollback even for the touchpad .

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

hi there. the pointer is visible in these areas but when I click nothing happens. it happens on the main screen as well, but it is particularly concentrated in those sections. it's hard to say whether it happens in safe mode because it occurs sporadically. when it happens and I restart, it won't happen immediately whether in safe mode or not.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

Hi jakooker ,

As it is intermittent in nature so as to observe it more on safe mode, would you be open to the option of factory reset . Again this would delete everything and would start from an out of the box settings.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

Wow Spidey.  It's a brand new computer.  I bought it less than 30 days ago and it would seem like a very bad start to erase everything.  Perhaps, I should simply return the computer as it is defective?

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 510-151SK - Mouse Problem

Hi jakooker ,

Greetings.

As with most user , fastest way to isolate a hardware issue from the software issue ( maybe due to windows update changes or 3rd party application ) as its still is new and most likely have not much on it yet doing a factory reset.

Factory reset / One Key Recovery is the exact functional image OEM would expect to receive by end users without  daunted usage cause. If this issue still happens without user changes or updates then most likely issue is hardware .

Anyways if you decide to return it, you may still decide to do the same and remove your information inside.

Just taking consideration of return policy since you mentioned on the original post that it is new, as same reason I suggest OKR as an primary option (time constraints ) as the symptoms are sporadic in nature.

Balance the options for your decision on what fits best for you as we can only suggest options.

Call in technical support if needed specially if you require assistance on windows / driver updates .

Regards

Thank you!  You sure do give me a good bit to think about.  I appreciate your taking the time to advise on all of this.  Are you working with Lenovo then?
