Lenovo Ideapad Cinema4D GPU crash 330S-15IKB

2019-06-27, 6:10 AM

I keep getting a consistent crash in Cinema4D R20 (App freezes, the screen goes black for a second and the software stops responding until I end the task in the task manager) when using the spline and sweep effects. On opening up the Preferences, I noticed a message under the Open GL tab saying: Your graphics driver seems to be outdated. This is a frequent reason for random crashes and unexpected behaviour. Please update to the latest WHQL driver.

I assume its a graphics driver problem yet I'm on the most recent update here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ae/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/300-series/330s-15ikb/81f5/81f500fvax/yd05a63e/downloads

I really would appreciate a proper fix or a driver update.

Hi! Try running Cinebench R20 and check if the issue is the same. You can get the app here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/cinebench/9pgzkjc81q7j?activetab=pivot:overviewtab. Open Task manager while the app is running to check the GPU processing the image.

Here's what I get when rendering

I don't think the GPU is being used in this case. Also, I've switched my graphics-related app to use only the Intel GPU as I keep experiencing crashes with apps that are set to use the Radeon GPU.
