Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
In response to customer reports of displays or screens turning off on Lenovo systems while in use and running on battery power, Lenovo has released a solution via update to the Intel Management Engine Firmware, v.18.104.22.1686.
The Intel ME Firmware has been approved for the following models:
ideapad 300S-14ISK, ideapad 500S-14ISK
Lenovo Edge 2-1580
Lenovo Flex 3-1480, Flex 3-1580,
Yoga 500-14ISK, Yoga 500-15ISK
The Intel ME Firmware can be downloaded here:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds105001
If the solution provided by Lenovo does not resolve the issue for you, other customers report that a workaround provided by customer MattDN93 also resolves the issue.

The Intel ME Firmware update DOES NOT work for me. Theres is a backlight but a black screen. i just got its 7 weeks (lenovo referbished)

I am having this issue as well with my Flex 3 - 1480. Doesn't matter if it is plugged in or not. All software is updated properly. My machine was sent for service and now that I have it back it is STILL doing the same thing and I need to send it back again. This laptop is useless to me right now. I have completed all the troubleshooting and updated all the drivers and still nothing.
