Lenovo ideapad 100s password typing issue

I have been having difficulty typing in any passwords on my ideapad, including in trying to log into the computer. I have tried the passwords on other devices and it has worked so I know in typing in the correct password but it just doesn't log in, is there any way to fix this?

Re: Lenovo ideapad 100s password typing issue

Hi Tiddler22  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would it be a Windows log in password ?

Assuring that caps lock is not disabled ,clicking in Password Reveal Button (eye icon) to confirm if the correct keys are pressed. Assuming that the input keys are failing then try clicking on the ease of access icon at the bottom to launch onscreen keyboard and check.  Another option is using an external usb keyboard to isolate the issue.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Lenovo ideapad 100s password typing issue

I have pressed the button to view my password and it comes up in Japanese letters most of the time, but when I type in anyrhing visible it's English, I thought it was encryption but I'm not sure, caps isn't on and I type the same password in over and over and eventually it works, no misspelling I made sure

Re: Lenovo ideapad 100s password typing issue

Hi  Tiddler22 ,

Greetings.

Take this opportunity to back up important files on a different location and create your Windows recovery media

It would be better if you also create another admin account (perhaps a local admin) for alternate log in .

The date when it all started is essential if system configuration was changed so make sure the there is a restore point to system restore back to that date.

If all things fails a factory reset can be done but this would delete the C:drive and would be reimaged giving you a fresh restart.

Update us how it would best work for you and if you suspect probable keyboard hardware failure to call in technical support specially if this also happens using an external USB keyboard.

Regards
