Lenovo ideapad 110 series - why was keyboard redesigned?

It seems Lenovo made the right Shift key half its normal size and stuck the page up key next to it on the right. Every time I go to shift, (to capitalize the 1st letter of my sentence of when I type a name) I hit page up and my cursor jerks up to the next line (or several lines). This is beyond annoying!!!! Unfortunately I just realized this after I brought the computer home from Best Buy. Who the heck would look at the keyboard if all the letters and symbols and other keys are at the right place where they belong? I am used to the "normal" keyboard settings since 20 years and whenever I bought a new laptop I never checked the keyboards. I have no idea how I will re-train myself to reach waaaaaaay to the right with my right pinky to hit the Shift key.

Anyone has a good suggestion?

Hi magyar_redhead  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try using key remapping like Keytweak as what most of the guys used and works with their machine that had the same change on keyboard design.

Try to read further on this discussion for further reference.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Re: Lenovo ideapad 110 series - why was keyboard redesigned?

Totally agree with you.  I tried retraining myself, but I ended up just getting an external keyboard which shares the same usb port as my mouse.  This works because I mainly use the laptop on my desk in the study.  I also experienced a stuck key which prevented me from signing back into my computer, so I ended up having to unplug the keyboard from my laptop.  My external keyboard takes care of everything except turning the computer back on when I do a complete shut down, so I just plug the laptop keyboard back in, turn the computer on and then quickly unplug the keyboard again so I can continue sigining in.  Poor design if you ask me.
