Any help, was using my laptop fine earlier then it crashed. I shut it down and restarted through the power button. And then I got
"default boot device missing or boot failed"
After that I went into bios and turned off pxe booting since my friend said it might be that. Still didn't work
Went into automatic repair and tried some stuff there.
"startup repair could repair you computer" and system restore didn't work either. And neither did restore to previous version.
After that my friend said to just reinstall windows and then to try to recover files after. Using my friends laptop we downloaded Windows install onto a USB and booted from the USB on my laptop.
Trying to install Windows just shows my USB as the only drive,
Is there anything else I can do at this point or is it beyond repair

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you have the Machine Type Model (MTM) from the sticker or check it from here.
I suspect that the BIOS is still detecting the drive as seen from the BIOS hoping that it is just a Windows system file issue. While in the BIOS place the setting to defaults from the exit tab and save. Restart and tap on F12 / FN + F12 to try to start on the boot manager.
If the boot manager shows the USB with Windows then use it to do the repair.
If you still have active warranty, then better to call in technical support for the option and also to inform them that you need to backup your data. This can be done if the harddrive is removable (page 40) to slave it on another machine or using an enclosure.
