Lenovo ideapad 510-15ISK stuck in ship mode

Hi,

I got my laptop just before New Year so haven't been able to get any support for this problem. I see there have been other posts regarding this for different models and wonder if the solution is the same.

My laptop boots up fine either plugged into AC power or on battery power. However, if I unplug the AC power, the screen goes blank, although the laptop stays powered up as I can hear it running.

If I plug the AC power back in the screen comes back on again.

Is the laptop stuck in ship mode, even though I've followed the troubleshooting suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Lenovo ideapad 510-15ISK stuck in ship mode

check your power management settings for battery mode and for plugged in mode.

Depending if you have drivers installed or not you'll have different power management options available (or not).

I think you might have configured the "on battery" power profile to use lowest screen brightness possible and maximum power savings... on some systems "lowest brightness" is equivalent to turning screen off.

Wow! Thank you so much, this worked! I thought the laptop was going to have to be returned, it seemed like a fault and yet it was something so simple! Thanks again!
