So i have this laptop, its great and all really, but my only problem is that sometimes the hinge gets stuck and i have to use a bit more force to close it after use and it makes a cracking sound, does anyone have the same problem ?

I had the exact same issue and dealing with the issue now. My hing ended up breaking. I called trying to get it covered under warranty because my laptop was approximately 8 months and they said it was not covered under warranty and if I shipped it to them they would charge me for the reapir (worst customer service!). What the issue is the hinge mounts to the LCD back cover (Part #5CB0K85923) and that cracking your hearing is the the mount that holds the screw for the hinge breaking. I ended up just ordering the part myself to repair it. If you take it to someone to have repaired it's about $150 in labour from what I found out but not to hard to replace yourself.
I have attached pictures of the hinge on mine as you can see on one side the mounts (the gold colour metal) is still mounted to the plastic where on the other side they have broken off.
Would be nice if Lenovo would cover the cost of the part as I see it's not an issue only with my laptop.

Thanks for the reply, my "repair" was covered by my warranty but i think that they didnt do much, because when i got the laptop it smelled like they used a spray to lube up the hinge, and for a few weeks it worked perfectly but now it starts getting a bit harder and harder to open or close the lid

Hi! I also have a similar problem. I bought my Idepad 700-15ISK 6 days ago, and the right hinge is already broken, and it also broke the back and front cover of the display. I uploaded a picture to show it. A screw fell out of it and the metal part of the hinge didn´t turn anymore, braking the other parts. I am sending it back for repair. It is interesting that my previous laptop was also a Lenovo, an Ideapad Z580, where the right hinge was also broken after like a year or so. I hope that I only have bad luck and this is not a sign of poor build quality.

We have another Lenovo in our household and I have been using it while waiting for the part I ordered to come in and the hinge did not seembquite right. After the experience with mine I took it apart and both hinges are broken and appear to have been for quite some time. The hinge on this model is more what I'll call a Mac hinge so it attaches differently than the IdeaPad 700 and the way it attaches it able to function normally with the broken hinges the only reason I checked was due to the issues with mine I was a little paranoid. After all these issues with my hinges for Lenovo products I've been looking into it and it seems like a common occurrence if you Google it with many brands.

Hi! I have updates on my broken hinge issue. The guarantee repair was declined becouse it seems that a hinge that breaks after literally 6 days of use doesn't qualify for guarantee. Why do we have a guarantee than if the most sensitive parts are not included in it? BTW the decision was made by the official Czech Lenovo Partner Arvato Services. They also write that the laptop was "time-worn" (used for a long time) and scratched. I repeat, a laptop that was used for 6 days and barely left my office desk. This is ridiculous.

Service has also just been awful for me. Since they said it would not be covered under warranty. When I initially commented on here was the day I ordered the part. I received no confirmation email, the website stated I would have it in 3-5 business days it took over a month and half and they tried to charge me an additional $30USD on a $39USD order for shipping even though the $39 was for the part and shipping. Thankfully they ended up reversing the extra charge after talking to them.

After 2 months after purchase, also broken a right loop from the lid. I bought a laptop in the US, but now I'm in Russia.
The first laptop Lenovo G500 worked for 3 years and it has the same problem, broken the left loop - it ripped out all the bolts and all the fixing. Repaired with epoxy glue.
What should I do with a new laptop?

So, I just went to open my laptop a while ago. As I was opening, it went maybe a quarter way up (I don't think even that but giving the benefit of the doubt) fine. Then it suddenly wanted to stop. Unfortunatly I was already into the motion and snap. Bezel popped off at the bottom and screws that mount the back panel to the hinge are broken! It appears the nut on the hinge self tightened! I had to use pliers to loosen the hinge so that I could put it back down! Contacted lenovo chat, guy said that "accidental" damage is not covered under warranty! Has anyone else had this happpen to them? How did you handle it? He said I could send it to them (I have to pay for shipping!!!) and IF they decide it is covered under warranty, they will fix it. Otherwise I would be charged or have to get it shipped back to me. Needless to say, I'm pretty md right now!
