Hello, I just wanted to find out the m.2 ssd options available for the ideapad 700 series not the y700.
Part # 80RU00CWUS
8.0GB PC4-17000 DDR4 2133
1TB 5400 RPM
I had a look at the inside, looking at the hardware manual the samsung pm951 could be used so does that mean the sm951 could also be used or the 950 pro even?

Where are you copying the file from? If you are copying files within the m.2 I think it could be hitting the limit of m.2 sata interface since the drive needs to read and write at the same time.
As far as I know the sata iii 6Gb interface has a max speed of around 550MB/s in one direction. So if you are copying files within the same drive you'll have devide the max speed by 2 since you are trying to read and write to the drive at the same time.
If you are copying from the sata HDD. The sata HDD cant read as fast as the m.2 can write so it's limited by the HDD.
If you really want to see coping speeds replace the HDD sata and put in a SSD sata 2.5". Then copy files between the m.2 drive and the sata SSD. You should see near max write or read speeds (which ever is lower).
Just on a side note I replaced my 2.5" HDD drive with sandisk ultra ii 240Gb. I was thinking of putting in m.2 drive but it was abit more expensive than the equivalent 2.5" drive. So I'm planning to put in a 950 pro in the near future and settle with the sata 2.5" SSD drive for now.
I also tested my drive copying within the drive I get just over 200MB/s. If I copy files from my sandisk extreme usb3.0 drive I get near 250MB/s. In Crystaldiskmark I get over 500MB/s in read and write.
