I just bought the SM961 as I saw that idealmanu made it work.
I have some questions about the windows migration process.
I have already updated the BIOS.
"- check the UEFI was configured in UEFI mode and not in BIOS legacy mode"
How do I do that?
"- boot on USB stick with Windows 10 installer on it"
To create that USB Stick I must use Microsoft creation tool, right?
Will I need anything else for the drivers or with the USB stick will be enough?
In conclusion, can anyone please describe the process in depth?

In BIOS in Boot tab chose legacy mode: legacy of UEFI. In my case is legacy mode for standard HDD, not SSD. Dont know which is for SSD. To get in bios press Fn+F2 when start latop. Make bootable usb with Windows USB Toll. Also chose first boot device to your "USB name". Sorry for bad English...

One mounth ago I bought PM 961 ( MZVLW256HEHP ) M.2 PCIe NVME SSD module to my Ideapad 700 15ISK i7 HQ notebook.
I install it with Windows 10 (1607) as primary boot disk. Original HDD is the data disk.
I added 8 GB RAM too (Kingston)
Everything work fine.

I just install Samsung 960 PRO M2 NVMe 512 GB with DDR4 RAM 16 GB x 2 ea on my machine and it works fine. It took me almost 6 months to order from Ramcity due to capacity shortage and price tend to increase.
I have a quick question: did you have to do a BIOS update in order for the SSD to get recognized/detected by the laptop?

Finally I decided to buy the SM961 256GB which is the OEM version of the 960 PRO (because the 960 PRO is more expansive and does not exist in 256 Mb capacity).
I odered it at www.mindfactory.de for 120 € (+ 20€ UPS transport to european country). They had the product in stock but the prices still tend to increase and the availability of the 960 serie is stil a problem.
The firmware version I had is the CXZ7300Q and the manufacturing date is december 2016. See the CrystalDiskInfo screenshot and the chip picture :
Good news : this SSD works with our machines so I am pretty confident that all the 960 PRO/EVO types should work.
Did the SM961 SSD get recognized/detected by the laptop before you updated BIOS, or only after you updated it?

Hi, i installed the Samsung SSD PM961Me 256GB OEM. What i needed is to install Windows 7. But there is problem. The boot partitions cannot stay on the SSD. So i have them on the HDD and the Windows 7 on the SSD. But in a few days i got a problem with booting Windows. Sometimes Windows freezes on "Preparing desktop". 2 days working on it and i'm not sure if the problem cames from this configuration or is something with the Windows.
I just share my experience. So Windows 10 installs without problems.
