I bought an ideapad 720s-14IKB with 8th gen processor
i5-8250u/4GB RAM/MX150 this model.
I don't found any thunderbolt 3 controller information on my laptop by using HWINFO:
The dirver I used is DS500874 and I have installed Intel TB3 Software manually.
I still can't find my controller. However, other user in this forum show a normal controller inspection:
I think this is driver problem but I have tried reinstallation many time and failed.
1. I have do a clean install of Windows 10 1709 just after I bought this machine.
2. My BIOS version is somehow strange "6LCN17WWV1.03" which can't find on Lenovo official support.
3. Full Lenovo Vantage diagnosis is done but no problem founded.

OK! I have ever tried to downgrade the BIOS but failed.
I also found that if I inser at least one usb type-c device into thunderbolt 3 port,
the alpine ridge JHL6240 device would be founded in HWinfo!
However in this case, the thunderbolt 3 controller firmware still unknown.
This same situation is the same as some DELL XPS 13 device, too.
So I don't care to much about it.

Hey, thanks for your reply!
But it's even before plugging something in. I can't even seem to get the driver and software properly installed. I got the software from a different package from the Intel website. But as you can see in the printscreen the software doesn't see the driver..
I can also remember that before I did the clean install of Windows that i could see somewhere that it was compatible with an eGPU. (What i want to achieve).
I did install the driver from the lenovo support website for my laptop, nut still nothing..

OK! I think this is the problem.
We don't have such an evidence prove that the original factory 720s-14ikb is not capable of thunderbolt 3.
I will try to examine eGPU capability by borrowing eGPU enclosure from netizens.
If I am lucky I will get result soon.
