My Computer WONT TURN ON!!! (IdeaPad 100s)

I was taking a 40 day break from my computer ending on Sunday, put it in the basket. I was going to test the bootup, and when i push power, no light turns on. When i plug the adapter in, i hear a very quiet buzz noise from inside the computer, and i push the power button, still nothing happens, no lights, no boot. Is my computer dead or what? I just got this for Christmas. Is their a way to fix it, i hear taking the battery and unplugging the adapter and holding the power button for 30-60 seconds works on some Lenovo models, but the battery is not accessible without me having to mess with screw drivers. I want to have a good working lenovo. Should i mail this in to Lenovo, or is their a way to fix manually.

Hi Isaac,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

When you plug in the power cord the light for the AC adaptor doesn't turn on?

Hope this helps. Let me know your findings.

Shashi

Re: My Computer WONT TURN ON!!! (IdeaPad 100s)

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Isaac !

Even though you can not remove the battery you can still do a modify version of the reset by doing the procedure I have listed below.  Some folks have found this helpful in resolving issues.

1. Unplug the charger / adapter.
2. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds.
3.. Plug in the charger / adapter and try powering up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

Re: My Computer WONT TURN ON!!! (IdeaPad 100s)

Hi Isaac,

If the no power LED lights are on then it indicates that the laptop is not getting power from the AC adapter. Most likely there is wrong with the adapter but just in case test it with a voltmeter to make sure the output voltage is correct.

It is possible the laptop appears to be dead because the AC adapter is bad (and the battery is discharged). If you know that the AC adapter is working properly and it outputs correct voltage but the laptop is still dead, most likely you have a power issue on the motherboard (or power board on some laptops) and it has to be replaced.

If you have to replace the AC adapter, make sure you use a correct one. The output voltage must be exactly the same as on the original adapter.

Hence i would suggest you to visit the nearest Lenovo service center for hardware assistance

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Shashi

Re: My Computer WONT TURN ON!!! (IdeaPad 100s)

MIRACLE!!! The 1st time i plugged it in after the reset, it didnt work. The 2nd time, i heard the noise my computer should make. It did that when i plugged it out. When i plugged it in a 3rd time, after about a minute, the power led blinked for 1 second, then the Charge light was orange, but i didnt test the bootup yet. I will do that Saturday, after mass. I will reply if it worked (There is a 99% chance it will work!!!)

Re: My Computer WONT TURN ON!!! (IdeaPad 100s)

Hi

Im' having the same problems - I got my laptop a few months back now, it worked perfectly for 2 weeks. I went to put it on charge as the battery had died and nothing. There was an orange light that flased when I held the power button (power lead was plugged in) and now it does nothing at all. No light nothing. I have tried the reset option was has been explained but this hasnt made a difference. Is it the power lead or battery, is this warranted as it less than 12 months old?? HELP!
