Please take note that Ideapad 320 is NOT the complete model number. I have the bad luck to have the worst model in the series :( Lenovo Ideapad 320 17AST, model name 80XW.

guys you should indicate your model number or the correct quick specs or your lenovo 320 because there's a lot of 320 model with different specs inside them..

How ever what i can really suggest to those who are experiencing slow boot up or opening programs.

You should change your mechanical 5200rps laptop hard disk with an SSD and use your mechanical HDD as external storage or use a DVD HDD caddy and remove your dvd tray if you have one. it will make everything faster booting up and opening programs.

I have a lenovo 320 81g

i5 8250u

nvidia mx150

4gb ram

main OS drive - SSD 240gb ( this is a CHEAP ADATA 240 gb SSD )

2nd storage - 2tb HDD.

It felt slow upon buying it thats why i transfered my 4 years old SSD as my main OS and games drive.

You can check my videos here it can run any triple A games

Re: New Ideapad 320 really slow?

Thank you very much.  I too had this computer for about 3 months (I bought it as a spare) and could not believe how horribly it ran.  It took at least 10 minutes to fully boot up, and even then, it couldn't operate mutiple programs.  The fan ran like it was going to explode as well.

Today I updated drivers, uninstalled all the unneccesary programs I could find, and reinstalled Windows.  No luck.

When I did the trick of going to Windows, downloading the Windows 10 program cleanly onto a new USB and then went about reinstalling, it runs smooth as silk.  Look, it's a 300 dollar laptop, I don't expect a gaming experience, but this is obviously an issue Lenovo.  Please address this and format the Windows correctly at the factory.

Here are the instructions I used from Microsoft and a link to the download.  Good luck, it's not that hard and I'm not a tech guy.

Both Ideapad 320 and 520 have some serious bug in power management probably. They are lagging, they are hanging. It's awful. I've sold my Ideapad 520 and bought laptop from different manufacturer with the same specs. Works a lot better.

I'd suggest that you go again but this time ensure you really do carry out a clean install.

What do I mean?

Well, go for the advanced install and delete every single partition on the disk - once all have been deleted, there will be one large unformatted partiton; choose that as the target and tell Windows to do the install there (no need for you to format it, Windows will do that for you).
