Bought a Flex 5 off eBay that the seller said was brand new, never opened, sealed with original packaging, etc. When it arrived, the seal was broken and there was no plastic around the laptop. The styrofoam was there but every new laptop I've ever gotten and the ones I've seen unboxed on YouTube all have plastic around the laptop if it's truly brand new. I also checked the Windows Event Viewer to see if the hard drive had been used and it said it had four hours of running time on it. I checked the warranty on the Lenovo site with the serial number and it said there were 10 days left. The laptop looked pretty darn new, but I have a hard time believing this one was truly brand new like if you bought it at a store.
I had to set up the laptop, there was no old account to delete. But why would the SSD program I ran say the drive had been used for 4 hours in July 2017? Could that be from the factory itself, or could the program I used to check the drive hours not be as accurate as I thought? Has anyone buy a brand new Flex 5 that didn't come wrapped in plastic? And does the warranty begin the day you buy the laptop or when you actually turn it on and set it up?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Try to correct the warranty date here .
" If you had purchased your machine from a retailer, business partner, reseller, Lenovo starts the Base Warranty at the time the shipment was purchased by the retailer, business partner, or reseller from Lenovo. To compensate for the time the computer may have sat in a warehouse or on the shelf unsold, Lenovo generally adds an additional month to the Base Warranty, Lenovo allows date to be adjusted."
Was the manufacturing date also July 2017? This may explain why the drive was used placing the image in the drive. You can also call in tech support so they can check if there were previous private owner registered on the serial or was it from a specific store. Have the receipt scanned so you can email it to them and they can update ownership too.
I hope this helps answer your query.
