I recently bought a Lenovo ideapad 520-15ikb 80YL00PXIN. It has 8 gb ram where 4 gb is soldered in the motherboard. I want to know if i can swap the other 4 gb and upgrade it to a 12gb total ram? is it possible?
And is it possible to swap out the optival drive for an sata ssd using a 9mm ssd caddy?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
It is possible to replace the 4GB RAM with 8GB on the available slot as an upgrade option. Sample of OEM ram parts here on the parts lookup page for your model (click memory on commodity type to filter).
Using a SATA SSD on a caddy similar to this discussion is also possible although not much success story are confirmed since usually it has been a bit of a challenge finding the right caddy and having the SSD detected properly.
I hope this helps answer your query.
