I got the Ideapad 720s 15IKB and I wanted to hook it up with 2 external monitors (1440p and 1080p)
So I bought this adapter because my laptop has TB3 input.
Currently I connect only 1 monitor and it doesnt work at all
Any suggestions? I chose my laptop with TB3 for this exact purpose.. Please help
Update: as for right now, when I connect 1 1440p monitor, my laptop detects it but my monitor's screen is black (as it is off)

Welcome to the Community Forums!
Checking the specification of Ideapad 720s, it supports Display Port 1.2a, https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Lenovo%20Laptops/ideapad%20720S%20(15_)/ideapad_720S_15.pdf. However, you need to have an active DisplayPort to HDMI / DVI adapter or cable for it to work. https://www.startech.com/faq/displayport_converter_dp_multi_mode

I've updated original post, please check it again.
Bottom line, I dont understand why i need hdmi adapter if I have a cable that both ends are DP ( and my monitor has mini-dp input).

Dual Mode Display port has limitations and it is unavailable for USB-C ports. Also, the description of the adapter that you purchase clearly states that
"Not all computers (such as the Lenovo Yoga 720) support dual displays over Thunderbolt 3."

Sorry for the confusion. The statement above is also applicable to Ideapad 720s. I'm afraid that you won't be able to connect 2 monitors using an adapter as it is the limitation of the USB-C. Sending Display port signals over USB-C connection does not include the support for Dual-Mode. An active Display Port on the laptop is needed for it to work.

Yeah, the trick here is TB3 gives OEMs a choice of single or dual-lane PCIE implementation, and at the price point of the 720S, only single lane is supported. Also, last I checked, Lenovo is still on TB NVM v5, while the latest release is NVM 18....! So you're getting a poor-mans TB, albeit it works well with one display. You would need an external GPU to drive two displays.
